Camp Valle Verde has 120 campers at capacity. We find that this number is large enough to have all of the facilities and opportunities of much larger camps but is small enough to create an intimate atmosphere where every counselor knows every camper, and every camper knows each other and the entire staff. This provides for a strong sense of community, where people look each other in the eye when passing because they know you, instead of pretending not to notice. Campers of different ages learn to appreciate each other and develop close relationships. It is part of what makes Camp Valle Verde such a special place.

Camp Community

Our counselors "animadores", have different roles during a Camp Session. Some of them have various responsabilities during the day, which helps them remain fresh and enthusiastic, and most importantly, gives them ample oportunity to relate with and know the campers.

Program Staff. The Section Heads and Assistants work with all the counselors in creating a fun and balanced program, and making certain that activities truly reflect the needs and interests of the campers. They also help solve and prevent problems, and provide mature, individualized attention for children. All Valle Verde's counselors also are certified instructors in many of our clubs. They are guidance people, which endlessly concentrate on spirit, scheduling, and fun.

Counseling Staff. Most of our counselors have camping backgrounds of their own and some have experience with groups, people and education. But most importantly they are enthusiastic young people who love children and provide good examples in their personal habits, mature and competent in their work and with a great sense of humor. Our counselors are role models, big brothers, best friends and problem recognizer's. At Valle Verde all counselors know that their primary responsibility is to the health, and happiness of the boys with whom they live.

Supporting Staff. The Supporting Staff include counselors in charge of the equipment, the facilities, documentation of the camp session (pictures and news), and other administrative procedures. We also have a health and food services supervisor, who is at Camp throughout each Camp Session. There is a visiting local doctor and different specialists on call, and a modern hospital within a few hundred meters in Valle de Bravo. At Camp, there is a well-equipped Health Centre.

Management Staff. The team or Coordinators are the management staff who help insure the stability, continuity and the family feeling we value. They maintaint the Valle Verde style, which allows us to accomplish many special things within our program, and ensures the warmth, spirit, guidance, safety and healthy fun for which we are known. In every session there are one or two Section Heads ("Coordinador de Sección"), a Camp Education Manager ("Coordinador de Formación") and a Camp General Manager ("Coordinador General").

Campers. The Campers at Valle Verde learn through experience to exercise initiative, make decisions and to take on responsibility. Camp Valle Verde offers each camper opportunities for self-expression, for choice, for decisions, and for the assumption of responsibility for his own and the group's plans.

Camp Valle Verde has one staff member for every four campers.
