At Camp Valle Verde we take great pride in our staff, and the
strong commitment that they have to children. They are selected
from many applicants on the basis of integrity of character,
reliability, warmth, personality, and a sincere desire to teach
and guide our campers.

 There
is an unparalleled experience and loyalty found at Camp
Valle Verde.
Approximately 70% of our counselors are former campers, and our
return rate for staff of approximately 96%.
Each counselor participates in many processes,
which start with an intensive interview process and orientation
program that covers camp values, procedures, policies and
traditions, as well as offering specific instruction in dealing
with the needs of our campers. Follow-up meetings with Coordinators
and Directors occur at regular intervals throughout the year.
Staff Training happens during the year, including about 40
different workshops in which counselors participate depending
on the requirements of their jobs.
We feel strongly that the counselors
are the most important part of a great camp. It is their skills
that will be the foundation of safety in our programs; it
is their personalities and caring and sense of adventure that
will inspire boys and girls to "reach beyond their grasp" and
try new things; it is their faith and consistency that we
hope will be fundamental in helping our campers grow. This
is why we believe that the right camp, with the right counselors
can be one of the most important parts of growing up.

Becoming a Staff
Member
at Camp Valle Verde
We feel strongly that the counselors
are the most important part of a great camp. The experience
of being a counselor in Valle Verde is very enriching,
but at the same time very challenging.
A Camp Valle Verde staff member
must, above all and at all times, take responsibility
for the safety and needs of each individual camper.
He or she is expected to be caring, creative, challenging
and charismatic. A Valle Verde counselor is a positive
and responsible role model, who recognizes the incredible
value of the camp experience for campers and staff,
and who loves working with children and enjoys being
part of a team; It is a person who values and respects
differences in children and adults.
